A Brockville police officer has been charged under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, but the details of the offence remain unclear with city police declining to offer any other information.
On Wednesday afternoon, the Brockville Police Service reported that one of its officers was charged with an offence “relating to prescription drugs contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.”
Local police initiated the investigation, with assistance from the Ottawa Police Service, resulting in the officer being charged on Tuesday this week.
“The Brockville Police Service does not identify accused persons and therefore the identity of the accused in this matter will not be released,” police said in a press release.
The officer has been suspended from duties with pay, as per the Police Services Act, and will appear in Ottawa court on February 8.
No further details were immediately provided as police said the matter is now before the courts.
More to come.
