We live in a perpetual winter storm watch.

The snow didn’t start last night as expected but — don’t worry — it’s still coming.

Most school boards decided to play it safe this morning and cancelled bus routes before the first flake even hit the ground.

School bus cancellations include:

– Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario

– The Upper Canada District School Board

– English Catholic and Public Schools

– French Catholic and Public Schools

– Renfrew County English School Board

But, as always, schools remain open.

Still, because the buses were cancelled, the Ottawa-Carleton District and the Ottawa Catholic school boards have cancelled all high school exams Tuesday, bumping them by a day. Friday’s exams now will be held next week.

The good news is that the roads are clear so dropping the kids off shouldn’t be that big of a hassle.

Picking them up? That could be another story.

Environment Canada’s special weather statement for the Ottawa region is still in effect.

From the official forecast:

“Snow will quickly spread into Eastern Ontario this morning then continue for the rest of the day into this evening. The snow may be mixed with ice pellets and even some brief freezing rain this morning. Total snowfall amounts of 10 to 15 centimetres are likely before the precipitation moves out this evening.”

Along with the white stuff, expect a high of -2 C today.

Tonight will see temperatures drop to about -5 C.

The rest of the week is set to be fairly mild, with highs hovering around freezing from Wednesday to Friday.
