Party on, Wayne.

Comedian Mike Myers of Wayne’s World, Shrek and Austin Powers may be living south of the border but he’s so proud of his roots that he recently shared the best places to celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday with USA Today.

That’s after the expatriate patriot released his book Canada, a love letter to the true north strong and free, last fall.

Myers has shout-outs for Banff, which “might be the most beautiful place on the planet,” movie-set like Quebec City, the majestic mountain and harbour views of Vancouver and the food of Montreal.

Toronto, “New York run by the Swiss,” will always be his home so we can forgive him for being a Leafs fan. St. John’s Harbour is like something out of Lord of the Rings and “the people are even more magical.” Peggy’s Cove is like stepping into an Edward Hopper painting, while Victoria is England of 100 years ago. Niagara Falls is – of course – better from the Canadian side.

The capital has its charms, too.

“In the winter you can skate on the Rideau Canal the length of the city. Some people skate to work,” Myers told USA Today. “And check out the Parliament Library — one of the most beautifully decorated rooms in the world. Seriously worth it.”
