City employees were applauded by City Council today in recognition of the $328,705 raised during the 2016 City of Ottawa United Way Employee Campaign. The money was raised through pledge form donations, as well as a number of employee-led initiatives and special events.

The 2016 United Way Employee Campaign theme was 100% Local and the money raised by City employees will help change the lives of more than 1,000 Ottawa residents.

Quotes

“The connection between the City of Ottawa and the community it serves is strong, thanks in many ways to the United Way. The essential supports and services provided by United Way agencies help those in our community who are most in need. By supporting the United Way, City employees continue to strengthen the bond with the residents they serve.”

Mayor Jim Watson, City of Ottawa

“Together, the City and United Way Ottawa work to solve some of our city’s greatest social issues but the success of the City’s employee campaign shows just how much individual City staff are prepared to do in service to our community. They are among the most generous and dedicated donors our city has and because of them, United Way and its partners are making measureable, lasting change for some of our most vulnerable citizens.”

Michael Allen, President and CEO, United Way / Centraide Ottawa
