City Council today approved zoning changes aimed at helping bring about a community vision for Armstrong Street in Hintonburg.
The changes follow the completion of an area-specific study that was undertaken in partnership with the community to envision a future for the Armstrong Street corridor. Zoning changes will allow for development of local-serving small businesses along portions of Armstrong Street, which runs parallel to Wellington Street West, and in the block to the south, between Armstrong Street and Wellington Street West.
In Kanata, Council approved an Official Plan Amendment and zoning that will allow for construction of a two-storey mixed-use building on the site of the Kanata Centrum Shopping Centre. Facing 255 Kanata Avenue, the development emphasizes pedestrian access and quality urban design.
Two commemorative naming proposals were approved, recognizing two Stittsville residents for outstanding community service. The Bell Memorial Park at 1751 Stittsville Main Street will be renamed “W.J. Bell Rotary Peace Park,” and a future park at 5970 Fernbank Road will be named “Silas Bradley Park.”
