Ottawa Fire Services rescued a man from the Ottawa River on Sunday evening after police received a report of a person clinging to a ledge in the water near the Mill St. Brew Pub at 555 Wellington St.
Water and high-angle rescue teams were called to get the distressed man out of the water. They reached him, placed a life jacket on him and helped him through the water to shore.
He was brought up the embankment from the river in a special rescue basket.
The man, whose name was not released, was taken to hospital by paramedics where he was in stable condition.
The rescue happened shortly after 6 p.m.
