If you’re an adult and you like to dance, then take a look at the dance classes available at City of Ottawa facilities this spring and summer. There are classes for beginners and experts. Some of these are designed especially for people who are 50 and older.

Argentine Tango

Find excitement, passion and drama with Argentina’s signature dance, the Salon Style Tango. By the time you’re done, you’ll know how to do forward ochos, back ochos, a molinete and playful ganchos.



Ballroom (Levels 1 through 5)

Move to the rhythm as you learn the foxtrot, waltz, cha cha, triple swing and merengue. Already know your stuff? Learn to perfect your technique in the advance level classes. Register with a partner.



Bollywood

Discover basic hip, leg and upper body choreography while you experience the wonders of middle-eastern glamour, moving to a Bollywood beat.



Broadway

A fun class to let your inner star shine by singing and dancing to themes of Broadway shows and Disney musicals.



Dundun Dance

Learn this unique combination of dance and drumming from Guinea, West Africa for a lively and physically powerful experience.



Hip Hop

This exciting cardio workout combines basic hip hop dance with a fresh choreographed routine.



Jazz

Basics of jazz dance will improve your co-ordination, strength and flexibility.



Line Dancing

No experience necessary. Dance for fun and get exercise as a bonus



Tap

Learn the basics of tap dance through enjoyable dance combinations and simple choreography. Emphasis on rhythm and clarity of step.



Theatrical Belly Dance Fusion

Story-telling through the exotic beauty of belly dance is entertaining, will help develop grace and strength, and provide exercise and self-expression.



Zumba Gold®

Enjoy zesty Latin music, salsa, merengue, cumbia and reggaeton, with easy-to-follow moves, in an invigorating, party atmosphere. We also offer modified moves and pacing to suit the needs of the active older adult, or for those just starting a journey to a fit and healthy life.

Zumba® is just one of several dances featured in our fitness classes. Caribbean Fit and Masala Bhangra are also options.
