Two Ottawa police constables helped save an elderly woman found without vital signs and were hailed by their duty inspector Sunday evening for “saving the life” of a city resident.
Thank u to C Platoon members Cst. Simpson and Cst. Ahmed for using their CPR training and saving the life of an East Ottawa resident.

Constables Simpson and Ahmed – the force’s media relations department would not provide their first names – were first on the scene of a medical call on Cromwell Drive near the intersection of Walkley Road and the Airport Parkway.
They used a portable defibrillator and their CPR training until the fire department and paramedics arrived on the scene and the elderly woman had a heartbeat as paramedics transported her to the hospital.
“It’s a team effort” between emergency services, said city police spokesman Const. Chuck Benoit.
“This is a good call. Great action on the two officers that got to the call first and were able to assist a person who was dying.”
