The Village of Notre-Dame-des-Champs could soon have a new church after the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee today approved a zoning amendment for a site on Navan Road.
Located on the eastern edge of the village, the building will be home to St. George and St. Antony Coptic Orthodox Church. The proposed design features a dome and a tower – an architectural design that will complement another proposed place of worship that will be built opposite this site: Carleton Baptist Church.
The Committee also received a summary of projects funded through both the Rural Community-Building Grant Program and the Rural Association Partnership Program in 2016. These rural grant programs allocated about $156,000 last year in support of rural projects and events.
The Rural Community-Building Grant Program is scheduled for review by City Council this year, but proposals are accepted year-round. Applications for the 2017 Rural Association Partnership Program funding are being accepted until Tuesday, April 18. More details about both programs can be found at ottawa.ca/rural.
Reports for these Committee-approved items will go to City Council on Wednesday, April 12.
