Queen Street between Bank Street and O’Connor Street will be closed to motorists and cyclists for approximately 10 weeks, starting on Monday, April 10. Local traffic will still be maintained to allow access to parking garages and pedestrian access will be maintained on the north side of Queen Street.
The closure is for sidewalk and roadway improvements that will help the Queen Street corridor better integrate with the O-Train Confederation Line Light Rail Transit Project.
Signed detours will be in place for motorists and cyclists during the closure. Flag persons will also be on site to direct traffic in and out of the parking garages that are located within the affected area.
Starting on Monday, April 10, all trips on OC Transpo routes 9 and 12 will be detoured to travel north on Kent Street from Queen Street, and then east on Wellington Street to continue their regular routes. During the detour, customers will be able to use the temporary bus stops on Kent Street and Wellington Street. These bus detours will be in effect until the late fall. More information can be found at octranspo.com.
The existing closure on Queen Street, between Lyon and Kent, will continue, while the stretch between Kent Street and Bank Street will remain open.
