One person was rushed to the hospital with serious head injuries after a vehicle rolled multiple times and landed in the ditch on the westbound Highway 417 Monday night.
The vehicle, with three people aboard, had encountered an animal near boundary road, paramedics said.
Firefighters were called in at 9:25 pm. and used extrication equipment to pop a door off the vehicle to free one of the occupants, who was out of the vehicle at 10 p.m. All three were conscious and talking.
Two people were taken to hospital with minor injuries. A third was taken to the trauma centre with serious head injuries. The person’s condition was listed as serious but stable.
With warmer temperatures, animal encounters are up on area roads.
Lanark OPP, for example, reported Monday that of 21 crashes they’d handled in the previous week, a dozen were car versus deer, one involved a car and a wild turkey and one and “unidentified animal.”
