Our very own Team Canada – Rachel Homan, Emma Miskew, Joanne Courtney, Lisa Weagle, Cheryl Kreviazuk and coach, Adam Kingsbury – have returned victorious from the World Women’s Curling Championship in Beijing and will meet with fans at a special rally at City Hall on Tuesday, April 18.
Fans can meet the team, get autographs and be part of the latest chapter in Ottawa’s sports history.
Date: Tuesday, April 18
Time: noon to 1 p.m.
Place: Jean Pigott Place, Ottawa City Hall110 Laurier Avenue West
Mayor Jim Watson and Councillor Jody Mitic, Ottawa’s Sports Commissioner, will be joined by members of the Ottawa Curling Club – Team Homan’s home club – to celebrate the team’s gold medal victory. Mayor Watson will also present them with a special proclamation.

Facts about Team Homan:
- Team Homan made history by being the first team ever to go undefeated at the World Women’s Curling Championships.
- Team Homan’s victory ended this country’s eight-year gold medal drought at the World Women’s Curling Championship, Canada’s longest in the event’s 39-year history.
- Team Homan is considered one of the favourites at the 2017 Tim Hortons Roar of the Rings Canadian curling trials for South Korea, which will take place December 2 to 10 at the Canadian Tire Centre.
