Here comes the rain again and with it a chance this will be an April for the record books.
Environment Canada forecast showers beginning near noon Wednesday and rain, or the risk of it, will linger until the weekend rolls around the reward of a sunny Saturday.
With low-lying areas around the region already flooded, Ottawa has a 40-per-cent chance of breaking the capital’s record of 166 mm of rain in April. We’re already at 99.6 mm, tweeted Rolf Campbell of YOW Weather Records.

More rain won’t help local flooding. Ferry service on the Ottawa River linking Clarence Island and Thursday was still closed Wednesday morning.
The National Capital Commission warned pedestrians and cyclists to stay off flooded pathways on both sides of the river, including stretches behind Parliament Hill and at the Rideau Canal locks.

In another sure-fire sign of spring, the commission warned of road closures along sections of southbound Colonel By Drive Wednesday as crews remove concession stands from the Rideau Canal.
Along with showers Wednesday, the forecast is for southerly winds at 20 km/h gusting to 40 and a high of 13 C.
Showers are expected to clear up by late evening while winds drop off and the temperature drops to 5 C.
Thursday is mainly cloudy with a 60-per-cent chance of late-afternoon rain and a high of 11 C. The forecast is for periods of rain and a low of 8 C overnight.
Sunshine and 12 C is forecast for Saturday, with an overnight low of 2 C.
Sunday is expected to be a mix of sun and cloud and a high of 16 C.
