The Ottawa police have introduced a single telephone number for all non-emergency enquiries.
As of this week, residents who wish to reach the police by telephone can call the 613-236-1222 for any type of report, from vehicle theft to harassment complaints.
An automated integrated voice recognition system will connect callers to the right section or person they need to talk to.
All emergency-related calls will continue to be made by calling 9-1-1.
Moreover, some crimes can also be reported online, such as thefts, damage to property, traffic complaints, drug complaints, fraud complaints and hate crimes.
