A 17-year-old Val-des-Monts youth remains in hospital with serious burns after he and some friends blew up a bottle of rubbing alcohol with welding torches Friday night.
While the details remain murky, police say the young men were playing with the bottle of highly flammable material behind a home, when the bottle blew up, sending flames and broken glass for some distance.
The burns to his neck, torso and hands were considered serious, but the youth’s breathing system was unaffected and the injuries are not life-threatening.
Police do not expect to be conducting a criminal investigation.
