In celebration of Canada’s 150th birthday, the Citizen is rolling out one fact each day for 150 days until July 1, highlighting the odd, the fascinating and the important bits of Ottawa history you might not know about.
At the 2016 Gelato World Tour in Chicago, Stella Luna Gelato Café owner Tammy Giuliani placed third with her Rich Chocolate Bourbon Ganache Swirl Maple-Candied Pecan gelato.
Giuliani, who runs her gelato shop in Old Ottawa South, was one of only two Canadian gelato makers selected as finalists (the other was from Calgary), and the only Canadian who placed (first prize went to a maker from Colombia; second went to one from Chicago).
