Ottawa police responded to calls of a man who was spotted carrying a handgun on King George Street near Overbrook Park at around 8 p.m. on Monday.
When they arrived, police located a group of four people and immediately secured the area.
Three of the people, all women, were immediately released from the scene.
The fourth, an Ottawa man, was arrested and taken into police custody.
The investigation is ongoing.
