The rainfall warning has ended for the Ottawa-Gatineau area, but with more than 117 mm having fallen on the region since May 1, the floodwaters are still rising.
From Saturday to Sunday, Gatineau saw an 18 cm rise in the water level at Aylmer marina and a 25 cm rise at the Kitchissipi marina.
The Canadian Forces arrived in Gatineau last night, and are using their heavy vehicles to help access areas the police have trouble getting to.
The military has three priority areas: Pontiac, MRC Pontiac and Gatineau. This morning the soldiers helped sandbag highway 50 through Gatineau. The road is closed eastbound between Rue Montcalm and highway 5, and westbound at at boulevard de La Gappe.
Our photographer found Canadian Forces assisting in the area of Rue Saint-Louis and Rue Moreau.

This photo was also taken in the area; the pylon is marking a car nearly invisible under the water.
In Gatineau, a pylon marks a car almost entirely under water.
The good news is the rain is tapering off today; only 1 to 3 mm is expected in Gatineau by the end of the day, officials say. The bad news there may be more rain coming this week.
On the Ontario side of the river, homeowners are fighting a desperate battle against the Ottawa River.
The two hardest-hit areas within city limits are Constance Bay in the west and Cumberland in the east. The city councillors in the area have been putting out calls for volunteers.
In the Cumberland area, volunteers looking to help fill sandbags can go to Navan Arena (1295 Colonial Rd.), or the intersection of Trim Road and Highway 174.

The situation is also precarious further east in Clarence-Rockland, which declared a state of emergency earlier this week.
Stay tuned for more updates.
