It was definitely not an ideal day weather-wise to go for a bike ride, but thousands of people came out anyway on Sunday to help raise money for children and families affected by cancer.

The CN Cycle for Children said it was in fact a record-setting day for the event, with $978,319 raised. The money will go toward pediatric oncology care and research — in particular, to the CHEO Foundation, Candlelighters and Ronald McDonald House.

Here’s a photo gallery of the scene at the Canadian War Museum, where people gathered to cycle, skate and walk, despite rainy weather and a temperature barely above 0 C.
