This morning at 10 a.m. the City went into Activated Emergency Operations in response to what has become a historic flood. The predicted rainfall for this weekend has taken place and we expect peak water levels to happen late Sunday or early Monday. The City is working closely with the Ottawa River Regulation Planning Board to monitor the situation.
The total number of properties that have been impacted is approximately 200. The main locations of flooding in the city include: Britannia, Cumberland, Constance Bay, Dunrobin, Fitzroy Harbour, and MacLarens Landing.
In response to the anticipated higher water levels, we have established on-site incident command centres at the three primary flooding locations:
If you want to volunteer to help with the flooding efforts, you can register online or in person at one of the Incident Command Centres. City staff will coordinate the volunteer support throughout the incident and recovery period over the coming weeks.
Emergency reception and lodging centres have been activated for those displaced by the flooding, and well water testing kits will be available, if required. Their locations are as follows:

Staff do not recommend declaring a State of Emergency as City services are responding within their capacity. The City is currently working with and is receiving voluntary assistance from the Province, which has already provided sandbags to the affected areas, for example. There are no financial or operational benefits to declaring a State of Emergency.
The City has formally asked the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing to activate the Disaster Recovery Assistance for Ontarians program for the City of Ottawa which, if approved, could provide financial assistance to residents who are affected by the flooding. This provincial program provides financial assistance to homeowners, tenants, small owner-operated businesses, farmers and not-for-profit organizations. It helps to cover emergency expenses and costs to repair or replace essential property after a natural disaster.
Water levels in the Ottawa River have reached record levels. All six generating facilities at Chaudière Falls have been shut down due to flooding and safety concerns, and an emergency team is monitoring the situation and overseeing response efforts. In several locations, construction crews are building berms to protect the shoreline from flooding and will continue to do so as long as it remains safe.

- Constance Bay: Paramedic vehicle located at 262 Len Purcell Drive
