Police have arrested a 20-year-old man in a fatal hit-and-run crash on Woodroffe Avenue last week.
The collision investigation unit charged Jakob Wham Sunday evening. He appeared in court Monday on charges of criminal negligence causing death, leaving the scene of the collision and taking a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent.
Police issued a call for witnesses to the crash late Thursday near Norice Street. It happened at about 11:30 p.m., when a Honda Civic travelling south on Woodroffe Avenue tried to turn onto Norice Street and was T-boned on the passenger side by a northbound 2017 white Hyundai Elantra, police said.
The 30-year-old driver of the Honda was taken to the hospital, where he died of his injuries.
The driver of the Hyundai fled the scene on foot before police arrived.
The Hyundai was seized by police for investigation as police worked to determine who was driving the car.
