Despite the rising temperatures, the city has warned residents to stay away from the water at the area’s beaches until further notice.
Floodwaters have led to overflow from the sewage system and the bacteria is being diluted at slower than normal levels.
Winter debris, like logs, docks and construction materials, and bacteria from the debris is also being carried by the water. The city warns this debris could pose a safety hazard to boaters.
Parents are also encouraged to keep track of their children around bodies of water and to practice water safety.
Public health will be conducting its annual water-testing to check for health risks at beaches in June.
