Ottawa Fire Services received multiple 911 calls just after midnight Saturday for flames showing from a two-storey residential building at 278 Shakespeare Street in Vanier
Fire fighters began a fast attack on the front porch area of the three unit home.
Because the fire had spread to the second floor and attic, additional trucks were dispatched by 1:15 a.m., and the fire was under control by 1:40.
A 25 year old male and a 24 year old female who were at home at the time of the fire. Two additional people who were not at home will also be displaced.
There were no civilian or fire fighter injuries. Damage is estimated at $300,000 for building and $100,000 for contents.
An Ottawa Fire Services Investigator is on scene. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
