Sandbag removal is almost complete at two of the flood clean-up sites (Cumberland and Britannia) but sandbag removal continues this weekend in West Carleton.

There is an urgent need for volunteers in Fitzroy Harbour, Constance Bay and Dunrobin. Clean-up operations will continue on Sunday, May 21 and Monday May 22 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. to help move sandbags from residential properties to the side of the road for pickup.

An OC Transpo shuttle service from the Eagleson Park & Ride to the three clean-up meeting points and back runs every two hours starting at 9:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. on Sunday and Monday.

Volunteers ages 16 and over are needed to help carrying heavy sandbags. Volunteers will be supplied with gloves at the locations. Comfortable clothing with long sleeves, pants and boots is recommended.

If you are able to help, you can arrive on-site at any of the three locations within the hours of operation.

Dates: Sunday, May 21 and Monday, May 22, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

  • Dunrobin Sandbag Clean-up Meeting Point, (Dunrobin Fire Hall) 3285 Dunrobin Road
  • Fitzroy Harbour Sandbag Clean-up Meeting Point, (Fitzroy Fire Hall) 6900 Harbour Street
  • Constance Bay Sandbag Clean-up Meeting Point, (Constance Bay Community Centre) 262 Len Purcell Drive

Parking is available on-site or at Eagleson Park & Ride (HWY 417 and Eagleson). The Salvation Army will be providing food and drinks to volunteers.

The City will continue to provide updates on Ottawa.ca and Twitter.
