Police said Thursday they had found the body of Nelliya Karbisheva, the 82-year-old Stittsville woman who went missing Sunday.
Karbisheva, who police said has a form of dementia, was found in a wooded area near the end of Stittsville Main Street, not far from her last confirmed sighting.
Police also said the woman’s poodle was found “safe by her side.”
Foul play is not suspected in the case.
Police closed off the area around Stittsville Main and Tony George Place, apparently for forensic examination.
It was the third day of intensive searching with dozens of police gathered at the site.
Volunteers had also congregated at a nearby hardware store to assist in the search.
