It was a potential disaster for one of the biggest bars on Sens Mile.

Bad weather brought down power lines in downtown Ottawa shortly after 7 p.m. — and just before a massive Game 7 between the Ottawa Senators and the Pittsburgh Penguins was about to start.

Most bars, fortunately, escaped the outage. But one of them, The Lieutenant’s Pump, had 300 fans in it ready to watch the game when the power went out.

That’s when Ottawa Fire came by to save the day.

A huge solid by @OttFire supplying the Pump with a generator to run one TV for loyal Pump patrons. pic.twitter.com/3Ed5ZA8EOh

Pump assistant manager Carina Salgado tells me 300+ people were here when the power went out.

Firefighters had to make sure the Pump was the only Sens-playing bar to have no power before setting up that generator, as you can imagine.
