The weather is matching many Ottawans’ post-Stanley Cup playoff gloom for Friday morning’s commute.
For Friday, Environment Canada is predicting periods of drizzle ending in the morning then clouds with a 60 per cent chance of showers and high of 15 C. There’s a 40 per cent chance of evening showers and a low of 9 C.
Road closures for the race weekend start early Friday.
Queen Elizabeth Driveway is closed between Laurier Avenue and Somerset Street from 8 a.m. Friday to 6 p.m. Sunday along with the east ramp off Laurier near City Hall – the start and finish for the weekend’s races – and access to the National Arts Centre.
But get ready to cheer or participate in the big 2017 Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend starting Saturday, which is expected to start with some sunshine.
Saturday is forecast to feature a mix of sun and cloud and a high of 22 C. Expect some clouds overnight and a low of 12 C.
Half-a-dozen races will be run over the weekend, affecting streets including Elgin, Lisgar and Wellington along with Colonel By Drive.

Sunday’s forecast is for clouds with a 40 per cent chance of showers and a high of 24 C. The evening is expected to be cloudy with a 60 per cent chance of showers and a low of 16.
NOKIA Sunday Bikedays is canceled on Colonel By Drive, the Sir John A. Macdonald Parkway and the Sir George-Étienne Cartier Parkway on Sunday for the race weekend, the National Capital Commission reports.
Monday’s forecast is for a mix of sun and cloud with 40 percent chance of showers, a high of 23 C and low of 12 C.
Then it’s cloudy with a 60-per-cent chance of showers for Tuesday and Wednesday with highs of 21 C and 19 C respectively.
