Six people were arrested and a seventh is still being sought after Lanark County OPP raided a rural property and netted more than 6,000 marijuana plants, hundreds of pounds of pot and several weapons.

The “extensive” indoor pot-growing operation at a Tay Valley Township residence was dismantled Friday by officers with the detachment and the force’s organized crime enforcement bureau.

Police seized 6,139 plants, 182 pounds of marijuana, more than a pound each of hash and cannabis resin oil, a “sophisticated” extracting device and indoor growing equipment. They also turned up an unsecured sawed-off semi-automatic shotgun, two prohibited Tasers, packaging materials and $1,940 in cash.

Six people were charged with production of marijuana and cannabis resin, possession of marijuana and cannabis resin for the purpose of trafficking, careless storage of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm and possession of a prohibited device.

Charged are William Kenneth Pinto, 61, of Lanark Highlands, Richard Marovas, 51, of Toronto, John Kennedy, 41, of Central Frontenac Township, Jacob Isenberg, 31, of Central Frontenac Township, Richard Little, 30, of Newmarket and Frank Teal, 25, of South Frontenac.

Pinto was held for a bail hearing in Perth while the other five were released on a promise to appear in court June 26.

A warrant is out for the arrest of a 62-year-old York man, the OPP said.
