All week, the promise of a dry, sunny Saturday beckoned.

But after the coldest May in almost a decade, the first weekend of June isn’t looking so hot in Environment Canada’s latest forecast.

The weather agency is now predicting clouds and a 30 percent chance of showers for Saturday morning then a mix of sun and cloud and a high of just 19 C.

It will feel balmy after a downright chilly Friday, though.

The forecast is for mainly cloudy skies with a high of 14 C and low of 7 C.

For Monday, yet more clouds, a 60 per cent chance of showers and high of 18 C.

Tuesday looks a week bit brighter with a forecasted mix of sun and cloud, 40 per cent chance of showers and high of 17 C.

Wednesday is expected to feature a mix of sun and cloud and – finally! – near seasonal high of 22 C.

Typical temperatures for the first week of June are highs of 23 C and lows of 12 C.
