The Special Investigations Unit is investigating after one person was killed and police then shot a suspect dead.
The shootings occurred early Saturday morning in the area of Clarence and Dalhousie streets in the ByWard Market.
A parallel homicide investigation of the first victim will likely begin once the SIU assesses the scene.
The deaths are the fourth and fifth killings in Ottawa this year.
