The Ottawa edition of TELUS Ride for Dad raised another $260,000 for prostate cancer research in 2017.

A national manager with the Prostate Cancer Fight Foundation said 1,213 riders participated in this year’s event, which started out from the Canadian Aviation and Space Museum.

The foundation raises funds through large-scale one-day motorcycle, snowmobile, watercraft and ATV ride events and through ongoing public fundraising year-round. TELUS Ride For Dad events take place in multiple cities in every province.

Funds raised are used to support prostate cancer research and awareness in the communities where those funds were raised, the foundation says.
