A malfunctioning signal at a train crossing in Barrhaven caused traffic to backup along Fallowfield Road Tuesday morning.
According to city officials the gates to the train crossing between Hollitman Road and Woodroofe Avenue became stuck sometime around 6:30 a.m. and wouldn’t open.
The jammed gates forced traffic along Fallowfield Road to find alternate routes.
Via Rail engineers have been notified of the issue and are planning to manually lift the gates to allow traffic flow to return to normal.
Via officials will remain onsite to conduct traffic through the crossing until the gates are properly repaired.
VIA now onsite & will manually lift gate for traffic to go thru. Next train is 10:45 & VIA will be onsite for protected crossing.
