Members of the Ottawa Newspaper Guild, which represents 68 employees at the Ottawa Citizen and Ottawa Sun, have voted in favour of giving their executive committee a strike mandate in contract negotiations with management.
“This vote shows overwhelming support for our bargaining committee,” said guild president Debbie Cole.
Postmedia senior vice-president of content Gerry Nott said, “We are scheduled to meet with a conciliator on June 20 and 21 and remain hopeful that an agreement can be reached. Until then, it is business as usual.”
The employees represented by the guild have been without a contract since November 2015.
