Kingston police didn’t have to work too hard early Thursday to find the driver of a car that had flipped and landed on its roof through a downtown intersection.
At the end of a trail of debris, the driver of the destroyed car was sitting calmly in a nearby patio chair.
The dramatic crash occurred just before 1 a.m. when a white four-door sedan went out of control and flipped through the intersection of John and Montreal streets.
Upon arrival, police found the car resting on its roof, sitting off the highway, as was the driver, although he was in a chair.
“The driver showed signs of impairment by alcohol and was arrested for impaired driving,” the police report notes dryly.
The man, 29, of Kingston, was charged with impaired driving and failing to provide breath sample, as well as driving with open liquor and interfere with traffic.
He was released on a promise to appear.
The heavily damaged vehicle was impounded for seven days.
A 29-year-old Kingston man is facing impaired charges after rolling his vehicle just before 1 a.m. Thursday, June 8.
