The popular Black Cat Bistro on Preston Street is reportedly readying to close its doors.
The restaurant’s chef, David Schaub, posted to Instagram on Sunday sharing the news.
“This place means a lot to me and a lot of people … but we’re closing the doors on Preston at the end of June,” he wrote. “I’ll miss slinging burgers for y’all.”
The news was confirmed by others who are close to the restaurant. Some even said the establishment could close its doors as early as Friday.
Repeated attempts to reach Richard Urquhart, manager and co-owner of the restaurant, were not successful Tuesday.
The Black Cat was already running on a shortened service week, Tuesday to Thursday, 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., and Friday to Saturday, 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. It closed on Sunday and Monday.
The Black Cat Bistro opened at its 428 Preston St. location, near Carling Avenue, in 2008.
Since opening, the restaurant has played host to numerous politicians and various celebrities. It was also used in the 2014 film Hit by Lightning, starring Jon Cryer and Will Sasso.
