Ottawa police guns and gangs unit is investigating after a man was stabbed in a disturbance outside a bar on Rideau Street early Thursday.
Police were called to the scene following reports of shots fired in the 400 block of Rideau near Chapel Street in the Lower Town district shortly before 1:30 a.m.
They found a man in his 20s had been stabbed and he was taken to hospital with serious injuries. He was in stable condition on arrival at hospital.
They also found shell casings and other evidence of shots having been fired but found no evidence anyone had been hit.
Rideau Street was closed to traffic from Chapel Street to Augusta Street for several hours for the investigation but was reopened at about 6:30 a.m.
Police ask anyone with information to call the guns and gangs unit at 613-236-1222, ext. 5050, or phone Crime Stoppers at 613-233-8477 (TIPS).
