Sears Canada announced on Thursday that four Eastern Ontario locations and the Sears store in Gatineau are on a list of 59 stores across Canada that will be closing as part of a court-supervised restructuring.
The Sears Homes Store on Innes Road is the only Ottawa store currently slated to be closed. The other Eastern Ontario stores are located in Kingston, Cornwall and Brockville. An exact closing date has not yet been announced.
The Sears online store and all other Sears Canada stores that do not appear on the list (attached below) will remain open.
The retailer will be cutting 2,900 retail and corporate positions. Sears has been working on a company reinvention for the past 18 months, a news release said.
