The following planned road work and associated traffic impacts are scheduled to begin next week:
Heavy traffic impacts are also expected this weekend as a result of Canada Day festivities. Information on how to get around this weekend, including free transit service all day on OC Transpo and Para Transpo, can be found on the City’s website. Although most downtown streets will be open to normal traffic as of 3 a.m. on July 2, some traffic impacts will remain.
The Alexandra Bridge will be closed in both directions to all motorists, pedestrians and cyclists from July 1 at 9 p.m. to July 2 at 8 a.m., after which the bridge will re-open to pedestrians and cyclists only. Vehicular access will resume on July 3 at 2 a.m. The traffic impacts are to accommodate the Picnic on the Bridge event.
In addition Wellington Street, between Bank Street and O’Connor Street, and Elgin Street southbound, between Wellington Street and Queen Street, will remain closed until 4 p.m. on July 4.

- Gabriel Street – Due to watermain repairs on Joseph Boulevard, Gabriel Street will be closed, with no exit to St. Joseph Boulevard on July 4. Signed detours will be in place.
- Burton Road – Beginning July 4 until July 14, Burton Road will be closed, between Frontier Road and North Russell Road, for culvert repairs.
- Russell Road – A section of Russell Road, between Ramsayville Road and Anderson Road, will be closed starting on July 4 for the replacement of culverts. This work is expected to last two weeks and motorists should follow signed detours from Ramsayville Road to Leitrim Road to Anderson Road during this time. Three other culverts on Russell Road, between Way Street to Boundary Road, will be replaced later this summer with work continuing into September. This work will be staged construction with traffic reduced to one lane, in alternating directions during construction working hours.
- Multi-Use Pathways (MUP) – Sections of two pathways will be closed starting July 4 for resurfacing work. The MUP at Old Riverside Drive, from Hincks Lane to southeast Transitway and the pathway on Terry Fox Park, from Jeanne D’Arc Park (existing path) to Fortune Drive, will be closed with signed detours in place.
- Navan and Cumberland area culverts - A number of roads in the east end will see traffic impacts resulting from maintenance and installation of culverts beginning on July 4, 2017. Details on these impacts can be found on the City’s traffic report.
