It was Canada Day, so Oura Fofana made a point of being at Major’s Hill Park to watch the annual fireworks display.
“Since I’ve been in Ottawa, I’ve been more interested in Canada Day,” said Fofana, a 22-year-old from Hamilton.
Thousands gathered around Parliament Hill and Major’s Hill Park for the giant pyrotechnics show that lasted 20 minutes and 17 seconds in honour of Canada 150.
Those spectators in the muddy surroundings at Major’s Hill Park looked toward the Peace Tower with anticipation for the giant light show.
“It is the capital after all,” Fofana said.
The fireworks display began at 11:10 p.m., delayed slightly more than an hour because of the stormy weather that had pushed back the entire Canada Day evening show on Parliament Hill.
