Transportation Committee today approved the Statement of Work for an environmental assessment in Gloucester-South Nepean.
The City is planning to extend Earl Armstrong Road from Albion Road to Hawthorne Road, after 2031, to allow for growth in the Riverside South and Leitrim communities. The study area stretches east from Albion Road to Hawthorne Road, and south from Blais Road to Rideau Road.
An environmental assessment is needed now to protect the corridor and to allow the City to effectively respond to current and future development applications.
The Committee also agreed to defer construction of a sidewalk on Parkglen Drive. Originally meant to provide a pedestrian connection to Baseline Transit Station, the sidewalk is redundant as an indoor pathway through Algonquin College already exists. City staff will work with Algonquin College to formalize the continued public use of the pathway.
Items approved at today’s Transportation Committee will go to City Council on Wednesday, July 12.
