The following planned road work and associated traffic impacts are scheduled to begin next week:

  • Prince of Wales Drive – The intersection of Merivale Road at Prince of Wales will be closed to motorists and cyclists beginning today, July 7 at 7 p.m. until Monday, July 10 at 5 a.m. for roadway construction, weather permitting. The closure will also be in place next weekend, from Friday, July 14 at 7 p.m. to Monday, July 17 at 5 a.m.
  • Dynes Road – Starting on Monday, July 10 until December 2017 Dynes Road will be closed to traffic, between Fisher Avenue and Morley Boulevard, to accommodate improvements to storm water infrastructure. Local and emergency vehicle access will be maintained with a single eastbound lane.
  • Maple Grove Road – A section of Maple Grove, between Huntmar Drive and Terry Fox Drive, will be closed for construction work from Monday, July 10 at 9 a.m. until Friday, July 14. After that, Maple Grove Road will reopen between Terry Fox Drive and Silver Seven Road, but will remain closed between Silver Seven Road and Huntmar Drive until Friday, July 21. Access to businesses in this stretch of road will be maintained and detours will be in place.
  • Ottawa Regional Road 174 – Beginning on Monday, July 10, motorists will see construction traffic barrels on Ottawa Regional Road 174, approximately 400 metres east of Peter Harkness Lane, while work for the replacement of two culverts takes place. Limited lane reductions during off-peak hours may be necessary for equipment setup and traffic control measures.
  • St. Pierre Street – Due to watermain repairs on Joseph Boulevard, St. Pierre Street will be closed, with no exit to St. Joseph Boulevard from Saturday, July 8 at 7 a.m. until Tuesday, July 11 at 5 p.m. Signed detours will be in place.
  • Maisonneuve Street – The same watermain repairs impacting St. Pierre Street will close Maisonneuve Street at St. Joseph Boulevard. This closure will start on Monday, July 10 at 7 a.m. and last until Thursday, July 13, 2017 at 5 p.m. Signed detours will be in place.

With major special events happening on the weekend, motorists are advised to plan their travels with these events, and their traffic impacts, in mind:

  • The Canadian National Track and Field Championships are taking place at the Terry Fox Athletic Facility. There will be no public parking at Mooney’s Bay Beach or the Terry Fox Athletic Facility this weekend and on-street parking restrictions will be enforced.
  • RBC Bluesfest is in full swing this weekend and ticketholders are encouraged to use their concert ticket, card or bracelet to ride free on OC Transpo, three hours before and after the event. Road closures are in effect and can be found on the City’s traffic report.
  • Ottawa REDBLACKS will host the Toronto Argonauts at TD Place Stadium this Saturday night, at 7 p.m.
  • As part of NOKIA Sunday Bike Days, the Sir John A. Macdonald Parkway, Colonel By Drive and Sir George-Étienne Cartier Parkway will be closed to motorists this Sunday between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.
