The Ottawa OPP detachment is looking for the man driving a Honda Civic who stopped to help after a fatal crash on Highway 417 Sunday.
Bernard Clarke, 42, died after his car flipped multiple times in a two-vehicle crash just after noon near Woodroffe Avenue.
The OPP said Wednesday that investigators now want to talk to the male driver of an early 2000s silver or grey Honda Civic hatchback who stopped at the scene of the crash shortly after it happened to check on the drivers involved.
Police — who have also appealed for witnesses — asked that driver, or anyone with knowledge of his vehicle, to call the Ottawa detachment at 613-270-9171.
Clarke’s Audi sedan and a Volkswagen Golf, both travelling westbound, collided at 12:05 p.m., police said. While the driver of the Volkswagen suffered minor injuries, Clarke was rushed by paramedics to hospital where he died of his injuries.
The westbound lanes were closed into the evening while officers talked to witnesses and technical traffic investigators examined the crash scene.
