School bus driver seriously hurt after collision with crane

Police were warning motorists to avoid several roads west of North Gower Thursday morning after a school bus collided with a crane, leaving the bus driver with serious injuries.

The driver, a 70-year-old woman, was pinned under the crane in the collision at 7:24 a.m. She was taken to the trauma centre with serious head and chest injuries.

The 47-year-old man driving the crane was taken by ambulance to hospital. A 17-year-old girl who was riding on the bus was unhurt.

Roger Stevens Drive was closed between Malakoff Road and Fourth Line Road and McCordick Road was blocked near Pollock Road and Church Street.
