An 88-year-old woman was able to escape and call 911 from a neighbour’s after smelling smoke from a fire that broke out at her Old Ottawa East home late Thursday morning.

Fire crews were battling the fire at the house on Concord Street North and Greenfield Avenue, while police manned road closures in the area.

No injuries were reported, according to Ottawa paramedics.

Hydro Ottawa, meanwhile, said it was aware of an outage in the area of Concord and Montcalm streets and Lees, Greenfield and Mann avenues. Crews were responding, and the estimated time of repair was 1 p.m.
