Along his road to recovery, Erik Karlsson hit the highway to Sandbanks for a photo shoot with his future wife.
In style typical of the colourful Senators captain, he and his fiancée, Ottawa’s Melinda Currey, made the three-hour drive to Prince Edward County in a ’64 Impala. Accompanying them was local photographer Joel Bedford, who noted the couple looked “smashing” and could have been pulled from a classic James Bond movie.
Karlsson wore a “bespoke black suit”, along with the first pair of shoes he has had on since foot surgery in mid-June, while his lovely bride-to-be rocked “a red, form-fitting Gemeli Power gown.”
Along with the photos released on Monday, Bedford wrote that “despite a few too many mosquitos and some persistent autograph seekers, the shoot was unhurried and easygoing.”
Erik and Melinda will tie the knot early next month.
They became engaged last November, when Karlsson took the love of his life out for lunch and surprised her with a large diamond ring he had placed inside a pizza box.
