Firefighters had to free the injured driver of a vehicle after it went out of control on the eastbound onramp to Highway 417 at Nicholas Street early Thursday and struck a tree.
A passenger in the car was also injured.
Paramedics were on the scene first and notified the fire department of the crash at 3:25 a.m.
Fire crews had to remove the driver’s side door to extricate the driver, who was freed at 3:43 a.m. and taken to the hospital.
The passenger was also transported to the hospital by paramedics.
The onramp was closed for several hours during the investigation.
