Road work projects scheduled to begin next week will have the following impacts on Ottawa traffic:

  • Prince of Wales Drive – Road work along Prince of Wales Drive, between Deakin Street and Hunt Club Road, will reduce traffic to a single lane in each direction. This impact will begin today, August 11 at 7 p.m. and continue until Monday, August 14 at 5 a.m.
  • Nicholas Street – The northbound bus lane on Nicholas Street, between Highway 417 and Laurier Avenue, will be closed due to construction work beginning on Saturday, August 12 at 6 a.m. until Monday, August 14 at 6 a.m. Motorists must yield to buses merging into the remaining lane. Some delays are expected.
  • Highway 417 – Eastbound and westbound off- and on-ramps at Boundary Road and Rockdale Road will be closed nightly from 10 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. from Monday, August 14 until Thursday, August 14.
  • Fifth Avenue – Beginning on Monday, August 14 at 7 a.m. through until Thursday, August 17 at 5 p.m. Fifth Avenue will be closed to traffic between O’Connor and Queen Elizabeth Driveway due to preparations for sewer rehabilitation work. Bicycle lanes will be temporarily closed.
  • Alexandra Bridge – The Ottawa-bound lane on the Alexandra Bridge will be closed for maintenance beginning today at 10 p.m. until Monday, August 14 at 5 a.m.

Motorists should also be aware that traffic may be impacted this weekend as a result of special events:

  • The Casino Lac-Leamy Sound of Light will close the Alexandra Bridge this Saturday, August 12 from 8:30 p.m. until 10:15 p.m.
  • There will be limited parking in the area around the Ottawa Greek Festival but free shuttles from St. Pius High School will run approximately every 10 minutes.
  • Latin Sparks will take place this Saturday, August 12 from 9 p.m. until 2 a.m. on Albert Island. Motorists may experience delays on the Chaudière Crossing during this time.
  • On Saturday night, at 7 p.m., the Ottawa Fury will host the Charlotte Independence at TD Place Stadium. Ticket holders to the game are encouraged to use transit, bike or walk. Parking at and around Lansdowne will be limited. Tickets can be used to ride free on OC Transpo three hours before and up to three hours after the event.
