Capital Pride Week takes place next week, August 21-27, and various City of Ottawa departments will be participating in this year’s planned festivities.
A flag-raising and proclamation ceremony will take place on August 21 at noon, at City Hall, Marion Dewar Plaza. Rainbow flags will also be raised at the City of Ottawa locations:
Ottawa Police Services and the Emergency and Protective Services Department will host a free barbeque following the flag-raising ceremony from 11:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Marion Dewar Plaza. Donations to community charitable organizations will be accepted.
The annual Capital Pride parade will take place on Sunday, August 27, starting at 1:30 p.m. Following the parade, festival goers can enjoy the Capital Pride community fair on Bank Street, between Somerset Street West and Florence Street. Street closures in this area will be in effect between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m.

- OC Transpo Headquarters at 1500 St. Laurent Boulevard, at 10 a.m.
- By-law and Regulatory Services Headquarters at 735 Industrial Avenue, at 9 a.m.
- Ottawa Fire Services Headquarters at 1445 Carling Avenue, at 9 a.m.
- Ottawa Paramedic Service Headquarters at 2465 Don Reid Drive, at 9 a.m.
- Ottawa Public Health and Community and Social Services Department at the Mary Pitt Centre on 100 Constellation Drive, at 10:45 a.m.
