The Ontario Provincial Police are investigating the death of a 69-year-old man in a boat collision during a regatta in Rideau Ferry.
Officers from the Lanark County detachment responded to a water collision that occurred during the Rideau Ferry Regatta around 2 p.m. Saturday.
One of the boats involved in a scheduled race “became airborne,” police said. The driver was ejected from the boat and was critically injured.
The man, 69, from Lakeville, Minnesota, was taken to hospital but was pronounced dead.
Police said an autopsy is pending and that the identity of the man would not be released until his family had been notified.
