A severe storm hammered Ottawa on Tuesday afternoon with high winds and heavy rains.
Environment Canada issued several warnings – even a tornado watch was in effect.
The area affected covers Kanata to Orléans, Richmond to Metcalfe, Prescott and Russell, Barry’s Bay, Killaloe, Petawawa, Pembroke, Cobden, Renfrew, Arnprior, Calabogie, Plevna, Sharbot Lake, Lanark County, Smiths Falls and Perth. The storm is moving eastward at about 70 km/h.

A tornado watch is a step below a warning, when the weather agency would advise people to go indoors to a room on the lowest floor away from walls and windows and abandon mobile homes, tents or trailers.
